SEND
Sutton Road is a mainstream Primary and Nursery school which welcomes all children including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We uphold an inclusive admissions policy which is built on a whole community approach to special needs where staff, governors, parents and support services work together as a team co-operating, collaborating, and coordinating in all that they do so that it produces the best possible education for all children.
At our school all staff and the Governing Body are highly committed to providing an aspirational and inclusive curriculum where all children are valued and are enabled to, achieve both academically and personally.
As a school, we work hard to ensure that all children are supported to be the best they can be and meet their full potential and that provision is made for those who require extra support. We strive to ensure that our children with SEND (diagnosed, suspected or vulnerable) are able to access every aspect of the curriculum due to effective quality first teaching. We operate under and meet the requirement of the Code of Practice and other relevant government legislation.
We provide a wide range of intervention and support, that addresses a child’s individual need; in the areas of social, emotional, communication and interaction, cognition and learning as well as behaviour.
We believe that working together with parents, agencies and staff, we can help children overcome any difficulties and flourish.

Interventions
At Sutton Road Primary School, we recognise that all children learn and develop differently and we know that most children will need a little additional help at some point during their time at school.
As part of the support we offer at Sutton Road Primary School, we regularly review how the children are doing alongside their class teachers, to see if any additional support may be needed (both academically and socially). We aim, as a school, to provide specifically targeted support to children who need it, through the delivery of a successful school wide intervention programme.
