Overview

The children will complete a range of speaking and listening activities to teach and assess their knowledge of common vocabulary. They will build up their listening, attention and vocabulary skills along specific themes relevant to them such as, playground, classroom, swimming and the beach.

Structure

20 minute sessions twice weekly. Each session will be delivered with a small group of children.

Who accesses this?

Reluctant readers or children with gaps in phonics knowledge.

Assessment

We will continue assessing reading on an ongoing basis to evaluate the impact of this intervention on progress and attainment.
